Polls show Beto O'Rourke gaining on Sen. Ted Cruz

The latest numbers show the race for the United States Senate in Texas is tightening.

The latest polls show incumbent Republican Ted Cruz with 47 percent support among registered voters. His opponent, El Paso Congressman Beto O’Rourke, has 43 percent.

No Democrat has won any statewide office in Texas since 1994. He was elected to Congress in 2013

O’Rourke was a guest on Good Day Friday morning. He said he thinks Texans will support some tighter restrictions for gun control.

Cruz said O’Rouke is too liberal to represent Texas in the Senate.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
