One North Texas student’s artwork is being displayed across the entire city thanks to Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Sarah Thigpen is a 9th grader at Booker T. Washington High School. She’s also the winner of DART’s 2019 Student Art Contest.

Thigpen’s artwork is now displayed on a DART bus – the first ever bus to be completely wrapped in art – and will stay there for a year.

Her submission is also on display at the Dallas Museum of Art and eventually will be seen at Love Field.

“I ride the train every day to school and back. And so I was like thinking about the people on the train that I see and their always on their way to work or something. So I wanted to do something about them going to work and then my future, the future for kids for their jobs and all the different jobs you can go into,” Thigpen said.

Nearly 900 students from 133 schools and organizations participated in the contest.
