Catfish can change up your holiday meal

Shell Shack will be open on Christmas Day.  You can enjoy their fried catfish or try it at home. 

6 (5oz-7oz) Catfish Fillets 
2 c. yellow corn meal
1 oz. Lemon Pepper Spice 
1 oz. Cajun Spice 
1 tsp. Cayenne Pepper

Appetizer catfish nuggets prep procedure: 

Cut catfish fillets in half lengthwise. Then cut widthwide 5-6 times (approximately 1 inch apart).  You will have created 10-12 catfish cubes.  Set catfish nuggest aside in a stainless bowl. 

If preparing fried catfish, set the catfish fillets asides & proceed with the next step. 

Combine 2 cups of corn meal, half lemon pepper spice, half cajun spice, and teaspoon cayenne pepper into a bowl or shallow pan.  Mix together. 

Mix to combine the remaining lemon pepper & cajun spice.  Set aside.  

Dredge & evenly coat the catfish nuggets in the cornmeal mixture, shaking off the excess.  Pour 1.5 inch of cooking oil in a large skillet & heat to 350° . Fry nuggets in batches approximately 4 minutes per side or until golden brown. Drain on wire rack over paper towels.  

Dust nuggets with lemon & cajun spice. Serve on a plater with cocktail sauce or tartar sauce and a lemon wedge.
