Dallas weather: Wet, chilly weather brings a burst of winter to North Texas

North Texas is experiencing a wintry mix of wet and chilly conditions this week, with changing temperatures and all sorts of weather systems.

Tuesday: Rainy and Cold

What we know:

Heavy rain this morning has led to some flooding on roadways across the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Showers will gradually end by noon, leaving behind cloudy skies and chilly temperatures in the 40s.

Light rain may linger to the east of North Texas through the afternoon. Another round of rain and storms is expected tonight, with showers developing around sunset. Rain chances range from 60% to 70% overnight, but most showers should move out by sunrise Wednesday.

Wednesday: Mostly Dry and Overcast

Wednesday will be drier but mostly cloudy. Clouds may clear in the afternoon as winds pick up. Highs will reach around 50 degrees before dropping quickly after sunset.

Thursday: Sleet Possible

Thursday morning will bring below-freezing temperatures across much of the area. Highs will struggle to climb above 40 degrees, with wind chills dipping into the teens.

Light rain could freeze on its way down, potentially producing sleet in northern parts of the metroplex. Areas farther south will likely see only cold rain.

Valentine's Day Forecast

Friday morning will be chilly, but temperatures will rebound into the 50s. A few showers could develop in the evening.

Weekend Outlook

This weekend’s weather will be all over the place. Saturday starts mild, with highs reaching the low 70s by midday, but temperatures will drop sharply in the evening.

Sunday will be cooler and breezy but sunny. President’s Day looks dry with seasonable temperatures.
