Dallas weather: Arctic air arriving overnight
North Texas is bracing for freezing temperatures, with arctic air headed our way.
A cold weather advisory has been issued from Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Saturday Forecast: Breezy day, polar air arrives at night
What we know:
Saturday will be breezy and chilly for North Texas, before the truly cold air comes in overnight.
Highs will be in the 40s for most of our area, with some areas to the south and east near 50.

The main surge of polar air arrives overnight.
Be sure to drip your faucets, cover your plants and bring in your pets.
What we don't know:
There's a disturbance ahead of that polar air.
So that means we could see a few flakes overnight.
If we do see a flurry or two, they would mostly like be to the west and north.
Anything that does fall would be of little consequence.
Sunday Morning: Freezing morning, chilling winds
What we know:
It will get progressively colder as we move through Sunday morning.
Lows will be in the 20s in the morning and wind chills will be around 10 by the time you wake up.

Overall, it will be sunny and dry, with dewpoints in the single digits.
We will be above freezing for a few hours in the afternoon to evening, but only for a few hours.
Wind chills will be in the 20s all day.
Once the sun sets, we will see temperatures drop quickly as the winds die off.
MLK Day Forecast: Freezing temps for most of the day
What we know:
On MLK Day, we will be watching a disturbance drop down through the Rockies.
We expect that to bring more clouds, but overall the air will still be very dry and cold.
Wind chills will be in the 20s.
What we don't know:
We do expect highs to climb above freezing on Monday, but at this point, for how long it will be above freezing is up in the air.
At best, it would only be a couple hours.
Tuesday Forecast: Possible Snow
What we know:
A disturbance moves west of Texas and then into south Texas into Tuesday morning.
The sun should return late in the day on Tuesday, allowing us to climb back above freezing.

What we don't know:
Tuesday there is a shot that we could see very light flurry snow flakes, but right now we aren't expecting to see the heaviest of the snow.
Right now, that appears to be south of our area toward Waco and south of Tyler.
We won't rule out a good dusting, but amounts should be under half an inch, and with temperatures as cold as they are road issues are not expected.
7-Day Forecast

High temperatures are expected to be back in the 40s on Wednesday, with a chance at some more moisture on Thursday.
