Baseball returns to Arlington in just a matter of hours. It’s opening day for the Texas Rangers!

The Rangers will face the Cincinnati Reds in their first game of the 2026 season at home.

Texas had a strong start on the road with a 4-2 record on the season so far. Their six-game road trip was to Philadelphia and Baltimore.

Friday’s home opener starts at 3:05 p.m.

Globe Life Field Roof

Officials at Globe Life Field confirmed on social media that the roof will remain closed for the 3 p.m. game.

That’s because scattered showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast for Dallas-Fort Worth on Friday afternoon.

According to the FOX 4 Weather team, storm coverage will increase Friday evening with some storms becoming strong to severe.

Starting Lineup

Mackenzie Gore will take the mound for Texas. 

Gore, who was traded to the Rangers in January, made a strong debut against the Phillies, earning a win with 7 strikeouts and a 3.38 earned run average over 5 innings.

Other players in the starting lineup include Brandon Nimmo, Wyatt Langford, Corey Seager, Jake Burger, Joc Pederson, Josh Smith, Josh Jung, Evan Carter, and Danny Jansen.

First Pitch and National Anthem

Stars goalie and Olympic gold medalist Jake Oettinger will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Neal McCoy will be signing the national anthem.

Globe Life Field Menu Highlights

The Rangers will have a bevy of new food and drink items for fans to enjoy this season at Globe Life Field.

Highlights include the 9th Inning Rally Sombrero, a giant nine-layer dip served in a fried tortilla shell, and the Pig Kahuna, a pork sandwich topped with pineapple and peanut butter sauce.

A tenderloin sandwich, hot dogs with biscuits & gravy and a rally sombrero are just some of the new items fans can enjoy at a Rangers game this season.

The Texas Ribeye Sandwich features grilled Nolan Ryan Beef ribeye steak topped with chimichurri, sliced tomato, and fresh arugula on a soft roll, served with French fries. And the Texas Tenderloin Sandwich is Nolan Ryan Beef tenderloin served on a brioche bun with gouda cheese, dijonnaise and balsamic dressed arugula, served with French fries.
