Surgery ends Dirk Nowitzki's season with the Mavs

DALLAS - The Dallas Mavericks say Dirk Nowitzki is done for the year.
Nowitzki had surgery performed on his left ankle. He will miss the final three games of the season as he recovers.
In his 20th NBA season, he averaged 12.0 points and 5.7 rebounds in 77 games.
The 39-year-old has repeatedly said he wants to return for a 21st season.
