It's opening night at home for the Dallas Stars

The last time we saw the Dallas Stars, they were being eliminated from the Stanley Cup playoffs by St. Louis. Tonight they open a new season at home against Anaheim.

Captain Jamie Benn is once again the team leader. This year he’ll also get some help from veteran winger Patrick Sharp, who will wear an A on his sweater after being named an alternate captain.

“Very proud to have that letter on my jersey at the NHL level, especially with a team like the Dallas Stars,” Sharp said. “At this time last year I was talking about how welcome I felt among the organization and in the locker room. I felt like this team was taking steps in the right direction and I’m very happy to be a part of it and going to do my best as an assistant captain.”

Forward Jason Spezza is the other alternate captain. He’ll also wear an A on his sweater.

Longtime color commentator and now the play-by-play guy, Daryl “Razor” Reaugh, joined Good Day Thursday morning to talk about the hopes for the season and the game against the Ducks.

It starts at 7:30 p.m. at the American Airlines Center.
