Wrong-way driver causes fatal crash on Hwy. 183 in Irving

IRVING, Texas - Two people are dead after a head-on crash in Irving early Monday morning.

Irving police got a call about a driver who was going the wrong on Highway 183 near Valley View Lane just before 3 a.m. As they were responding, they got another call about a crash on Hwy. 183 near Belt Line Road.

The drivers of both vehicles were rushed to the hospital but neither survived. They have been identified as 38-year-old Tyrone Wilson of Bedford and 40-year-old Sidney Leigh Drew of Santa Ana, Calif.

Drew was the wrong-way driver, police said.

A passenger in Wilson's vehicle was also seriously injured.

The westbound lanes of the highway were closed during the morning rush hour for a police investigation.
