A woman and three children are safe after Garland SWAT officers broke into a home and arrested a man.

Police had a warrant for the man for aggravated assault charges but he refused to come out of the house in the 1700 block of Meridian Way, near Pleasant Valley and Country Club roads.

The standoff started late Thursday night and lasted into the early morning hours of Friday. Around 1 a.m., officers then forced their way into the house to get the women and children out.

The man surrendered about a half an hour later. His name has not yet been released.

No one was hurt during the standoff.
