The Arlington Police Department is investigating a crash that killed 26-year-old Kyle Matthew Lusk on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

Fatal crash in Arlington

Arlington police were called to the intersection of E. Abram Street & New York Avenue for a crash involving a motorcycle and an SUV.

When they arrived at the scene, they found Lusk lying unresponsive in the roadway. He was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

The Investigation:

Investigators believed the motorcyclist was traveling eastbound along Abram Street at a high rate of speed and crashed into a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was trying to turn left from the westbound lanes of Abram Street onto New York Avenue.

The force of the impact caused Lusk to be thrown from his bike and the Jeep to crash into a 2009 Hyundai Sonata that was stopped at the traffic light along New York Avenue.

Based on their review of evidence and analysis of the crash scene, investigators believe the motorcyclist was traveling in excess of 90 miles per hour at the time of the crash.

The driver of the Jeep immediately called 911, remained on scene, and was cooperative with the investigation. She is not facing any criminal charges in connection with this incident.

Neither she nor the driver of the Sonata were injured.
