UPDATE: Murder at McKinney Apartment Complex

The family of a McKinney man is grieving Sunday evening after he was stabbed to death at an apartment complex.

Relatives say the stabbing victim is 21 year old father of three Jason Nehl.

People who live near the unit where the stabbing occurred at the Lakes of El Dorado Apartments say parties are held there frequently. 

One neighbor says he was woken up by a loud argument early Sunday morning. Police were called to the stabbing a few hours later.

“I think they were having a party next door to where my friend lives. They usually do it just about every weekend,” said Brandon Portillo.

Crystal Nehl, says the friends her son was with at the party did not notify his family of what happened. Instead, they learned on social media.

“They're supposed to be friends. Friends don't do that to friends,” said Crystal Nehl.

“He was with them. That's who he was with, and we tried to tell him you need to find friends that are going to be there for you, good friends,” said Brittany Rojas, Nehl’s cousin.

Police say one man was taken into custody who was also treated for injuries at a nearby hospital.
