Two women were arrested for DWI after both allegedly drinking and driving separately and getting in a crash with each other.

Southlake DPS found one of the women soaking wet after she escaped her submerged truck when it went into a pond at a park early Wednesday morning.

“Lucky no one got hurt in this accident,” said Ofc. Brad Uptmore.

Not only is it a case of two suspected drunk drivers crashing into each other, one of the vehicles went smashing right into a Southlake park and into a pond.

Police say Hayley Hollenga, 29, was driving the SUV. Taylor Berlingeri, 31, was steering the pickup that went out of control into Bicentennial Park.

"Whenever she crossed the median came through here, hit this brick flower bed pretty hard, went through here, went airborne, collided with these trees, small bushes, went down into the pond over there,” Uptmore said.

The only good thing about the accident is that it happened at 12:40 a.m. when the park was deserted. Police say Berlingeri was already out of the truck when officers arrived.

"One of the first ones that arrived saw a young lady walking down the sidewalk just sopping wet,” Uptmore said. "She told officers that she just swam out as the car was in there she swam out and started walking."

Police say the pickup was headed east bound on Southlake Blvd. when it lost control and sideswiped the black SUV also headed in the same direction.

A check of Texas criminal records shows neither has any prior DWI arrests, something both women now do have in common.

“It is pretty unique that both drivers were arrested for suspicion of DWI,” Uptmore said.
