Toddler drowns in pond in Wylie neighborhood
WYLIE, Texas - A 2-year-old child drowned in a pond in a Wylie neighborhood Wednesday afternoon.
Police taped off a large area around the pond in the 200 block Southfork Boulevard, north of FM 544. Video from SKY 4 showed paramedics packing up and officers talking to a man who appeared distraught.
Police said when they arrived about 11:30 a.m. they found the girl had been taken out of the pond by her father and a bystander was performing CPR. First responders then took over rescue efforts and transported the girl to a hospital where she was declared dead.
Police believe the girl managed to get out of her family’s home without anyone noticing and fell into the pond.
“This tragic incident is currently under investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this drowning,” Wylie police said.
The identity of the child has not been publicly released.
