Thieves stealing disabled driver placards, selling them on black market

CHARLES COUNTY, MARYLAND (Fox 32 News) - Thieves in Maryland are taking off with an unusual item: disabled driver placards -- those tags that let you park in disabled spots.

The Charles County Sheriff's Office said that more than 20 drivers have had their disabled parking placards stolen.

Investigators said that the placards are sold on the black market to drivers wanting to park in better spots for longer times at reduced rates.

There is a reward of up to $1,000 for the arrest of a suspect.
