Suspected credit card thief released from jail, wanted again
DALLAS - A woman who police say uses children as pickpockets is wanted again.
On Tuesday FOX 4 reported that Gail Pratt was finally arrested on July 7, six months after Addison police identified her as the woman seen on surveillance video encouraging children to steal from a woman’s purse at a restaurant.
Someone recognized her in line at a Dallas post office and she was quickly taken into custody. Pratt was charged with two counts of felony credit card abuse, but posted her $30,000 bond and was released from jail the same day.
Now Richardson police suspect she’s up to the same old scheme.
Pratt is accused of distracting a consignment store owner on July 15 while a child stole money, blank checks and credit cards. Fingerprints connect her to the thefts.
“The fact that the girl stood across the counter for me and just talked to me as if nothing was wrong, that’s going to be haunting to me. I’ve had a hard time struggling with that, sort of turned my world around,” said Kelly Pennington, the co-owner of Consignment Embassy.
Anyone with information about her whereabouts is asked to contact the Richardson Police Department.
