Some Grapevine roads still closed due to flooding

Flooding around Grapevine Lake has kept some roads closed for more than a month and left behind a lot of damage.

Weeks after record rains, stagnant flood water in some places still hasn’t receded.

It’s two lanes each direction, and cars cannot get through on Dove Road, south of Grapevine Lake.

You can tell by the lines of debris that the water has come down over time, but not enough to reopen the street.

Signs are positioned in front of a line of concrete blocks, making sure no one moves them to get around the closure.

The city says there’s no clear timetable on when Dove Road will reopen.

That’s the case on Fairway Drive in Grapevine and in Flower Mound.

Several inches of water are still coming over the spillway from the lake, and those cities don’t know when the water will completely recede, thanks to the remnants of a wet spring that won’t leave.

Flower Mound and Grapevine officials are watching weather conditions over the next few days and waiting for the conditions to change.

Lake Lewisville is another one that’s spilling, and most North Texas lakes are still very full.

The Army Corps of Engineers expects it'll be a couple of months before water moves out of those flood pools.
