Shots fired at Dwaine Caraway's campaign bus

Police are investigating after bullets were fired into one of two campaign buses owned by Dallas county commissioner candidate Dwaine Caraway.

Caraway says he didn’t know his bus had been hit with gun fire until a family passing by brought it to his attention as he was hanging Christmas lights a little more than two weeks ago on Dec. 6.

Two of the bullets ripped through the bus and ricocheted off his home.

The incident was captured by his security cameras, and Caraway has turned that video over to police.

Caraway is running against long time county Commissioner John Wiley Price.

Caraway’s wife was home alone at the time, but not hurt during the incident that happened about 3 a.m.

Police are investigating but say they have no credible leads yet.

“I do things and do make a difference,” said Caraway. “Some people get a little ticked off. Everybody don't want to see change, and I’m determined to do what is right for the people.”

Caraway is now rolling with only one bus, but he expects the other out of repair soon, and he is certain that police will catch the suspect or suspects responsible.
