A fire left several people without homes Tuesday night in a Far North Dallas condo complex.

The flames damaged four units at the Preston Oaks Crossing Roads near Montfort Drive and Spring Valley. Firefighters say so far they believe no one is injured, but a pet may have been killed.

Firefighters worked late into Tuesday night to put water on the building and watched out for hot spots.

Crews were initially told it was a kitchen fire and had to go 'defensive' right away due to the volume of fire, but they were able to protect the buildings on each side.

One apartment building was destroyed. It had four units.

Residents stood to the side and watched firefighters put the fire out. It wasn’t an easy fire to access. Fire engines had a tough time squeezing in between the buildings and set up in a tight spot. Some engines came in from behind the building just to try and get a better vantage point.

No injuries were immediately reported.
