Second Mavs plane trip with relief supplies returns from Puerto Rico

DALLAS - Another Dallas Mavericks mission of mercy returned to North Texas on Friday after leaving for Puerto Rico earlier in the morning.

The flight was organized by Mavs player JJ Barea and his wife. Barea is a native of Puerto Rico and team owner Mark Cuban gave him the okay to use the team’s charter plane again for relief efforts.

The plane left Dallas Love Field around 5:40 a.m. carrying water, generators, tools, medicine and food. When it returns it will bring about 60 people back to the states.

“The plane holds 63 people so it's going to be full on the way back,” Barea said. “Grandparents and moms with kids that want to get out and are trying to get out. We wish we could take everybody that wants to get out but we can’t, so we’ll do our best.”

The Mavs point guard let his wife take the reins for this flight while he stayed behind for practice.
