Scouting for Food with the Boy Scouts of America

The largest single-day food collection event in North Texas kicked off early Saturday morning. The “Scouting for Food” event is put on by the Boy Scouts of America.

Scouts went door to door, collecting nonperishable items for local food banks. The food drive is a part of the Boy Scouts of America’s 106th anniversary celebration. At last year’s event, 257,000 cans of food were donated locally. They were delivered to 45 local nonprofit agencies.

If you’re interested in participating, you can buy bags of donations at Tom Thumb or Albertsons grocery stores through the month of February for $9 per bag.

Fox 4 is a proud sponsor of Scouting for Food. Fox 4's Steve Eager was a scout as a child and is this year's honorary chairman for Scouting for Food
