Sailor Moon musical coming to Dallas as part of North American tour
DALLAS - Millennial anime fans, rejoice!
The official musical based on "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon," one of the most universally acclaimed manga and subsequent anime, has announced a North American tour with 18 stops across the U.S., including Dallas.

What we know:
The "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon: The Super Live" musical performance will kick off its U.S. tour with a preview in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, before officially opening on March 15 in Austin as part of the South by Southwest Film Festival.
The ‘2.5D musical sensation’ will stop in Dallas on April 1 at the Winspear Opera House.
"At its very basic, ‘Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’ is about 5 girlfriends banding together to fight for what they believe in... that’s timely," said writer and director Kaori Miura. "Sailor Moon and her fellow guardians are equipped with powers that help them defeat evil. The characters are imbued with the self-determination to have agency and make their own confident decisions. In short, they are the ultimate example of ‘girl power.’"

What is Sailor Moon?
What they're saying:
The popular manga follows the life of Usagi Tsukino (renamed Serena in some English adaptations), "a teenage girl who transforms into the heroic Sailor Moon," according to the show’s press release. "Together, with her fellow Sailor Guardians, she battles many dark forces to protect the Earth from evil."
Created by Naoko Takeuchi, Sailor Moon began as a manga in 1991 in Japan in a girls’ comic magazine published by Kodansha and has since sold over 46 million copies worldwide. It’s been translated into over 17 languages and has been adapted into an anime and a live-action TV series which has aired in over 40 countries.
