Rockwall PE teacher accused in child sex case
ROCKWALL, Texas - A physical education teacher in Rockwall faces a charge of sexual assault of a child.
James Smith was a coach at Utley Middle School until he was put on leave by the school district on Tuesday. Rockwall ISD sent a letter home to parents that said the case does not involve any schools or students in the district.
Police documents said the 40-year-old raped a 15-year-old girl staying at his home last April. The arrest affidavit stated the girl told police Smith threatened to hurt her sister if she told anyone.
The report said the girl's mom is a friend of Smith's and let the teen stay with him and his son while she was out of town.
Smith has been released from jail on a $50,000 bond.
