Rockwall 7-year-old wins kid entrepreneur of the year
DALLAS - A 7-year-old boy from Rockwall who is on a mission to feed other kids has won a national honor.
Kaden Newton thanked the many North Texans who voted for him in the “2017 Kidtreprenuer of the Year” contest. He was named the winner earlier this week.
Kaden is the CEO and founder of the Amazon-based non-profit called Mac and Cheese and Pancakes. In just 75 days it has collected and donated more than 28,000 pounds of kid-friendly foods for low-income families.
The charity has already donated to food pantries in Rockwall, Dallas, Hunt and Denton counties. Earlier this month Kaden gave some of the food to kids who rely on an Oak Cliff resource center that was burglarized.
Kaden will get a $10,000 prize for winning the contest. He plans to use some of the money to buy more food and start donating to food pantries in Collin and Kaufman counties.
"We can buy a lot of food and, more importantly mac and cheese because that's a 30-cents box," Kaden said.
His elementary school is even doing its own drive.
