Robbery, chase suspects arrested in Mesquite
MESQUITE, Texas - A suspect wanted for an early morning robbery and chase in Dallas and Mesquite is now in custody.
Dallas police said the robbery happened around 5:40 a.m. Thursday at a fast food restaurant in the 1700 block of Northwest Highway.
Officers chased two suspects on the LBJ Freeway into Mesquite. They ended up crashing on the southbound ramp to go to Highway 80.
One suspect was arrested at the scene of the crash but the other fled on foot. He hid from officers in the area just south of Interstate 30 near Celebration Station.
Officers finally took him into custody around 8:30 a.m. Video from TxDOT’s traffic cameras showed a lot of police activity along the northbound service road north of the Galloway Avenue interchange.
Traffic in the area was slower than normal but FOX 4’s Chip Waggoner said the main lanes of LBJ were open.
Both suspects were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. They will be charged with evading arrest and robbery.
One other person suffered minor injuries in the crash.
