Remains found at north Oak Cliff home

Dallas police are investigating the discovery of remains found at a home.

The remains were found Thursday in the 700 block of Winnetka Avenue in north Oak Cliff.

Officers with shovels and cadaver dogs were seen heading toward the back of the home on Thursday afternoon.

The property owner called police after 1 p.m.

He’s the new owner of the home and was doing some renovating that involved breaking up a portion of the ground in the backyard. Police say that’s when he discovered bones.

Investigators can’t say with certainty whether the remains are human remains, but as it stands, they’re taking action as if they could be.

The medical examiner is on scene investigating.
