Pres. Trump surprised to see Gov. Abbott
What Happened:
During the speech, the president talked about his campaign flipping historically blue counties along the Texas border.
When he said Gov. Abbott was doing a good job, there was a murmur in the crowd.
The president then realized that Governor Abbott was only feet away from him.
"Oh! Did I get lucky? Did I get lucky? Supposing I said, 'You know he's not here, but the governor of Texas has done a terrible job.' Wow, look at you."
"See, I didn't know you were there. I said he's doing a great job. He's doing a phenomenal job, but now you're going to have a partner that's gonna work with you because you didn't have… Not only did they not have a partner, he had people selling your wall!"
President Trump says Abbott is a very popular governor, and is an unbeatable governor because of his border policies.

"Governor Abbott is a great man, a great leader," he said. Then he asked Abbott, "Did you do [border policies] for politics? You did it because you wanted to do the right thing. I'll tell you. Sure as hell worked for politics, too. It's self-preservation."
Donald Trump overwhelmingly won Texas, earning more than 56% of the vote in the state.
Trump said the people of Texas are demanding the border policies.

Trump then went on to talk about Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, saying, "I said you've got a great attorney general. They said leave him alone, he's with me."
Trump then said later in his speech, "So I'm so glad I mentioned that they have a really good governor in Texas. And I swear I didn't know he was here. I swear to you, it sounds like a setup. I didn't know you were there. Did I get lucky? Said the right thing. Because there would be moments when I wasn't so happy with him, you know? But not too many. I can tell you that. So anyway, it's good to see you too, governor."
