The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) stated in a Dec. 18 recall notice that the products don’t have "supplementary overcurrent protection" and can create a risk of fire if the power strips are overloaded. The agency added that the "resulting fire can cause serious injury or death from smoke inhalation and burns."
