Police: Man tried to lure Keller special needs student

Police and school officials are warning parents about an abduction attempt near a middle school in Keller. The suspect tried to lure a special needs student with a puppy.

It happened Monday morning as the girl was walking on Parkwood Hill Boulevard toward Hillwood Middle School.

She told police a balding, white man in his mid-30s pulled up alongside her in a black Blazer-style vehicle. He asked her if she wanted a ride and if she wanted to pet his puppy.

The suspect drove away after the girl took out her cellphone. She then ran to a nearby child care center for help, police said.

The Keller Independent School District has added security around the middle school's campus and plans to send a letter home to parents.

Police have also increased patrols in the area and investigators are looking through surveillance video.
