Police chase driver between Fort Worth and Dallas

A man was arrested after leading police on a chase from Fort Worth to Dallas and back.

An officer found him sleeping in his car outside a motel near Interstate 30 and Oakland Boulevard in far east Fort Worth around 1 a.m.

The man woke up and as the officer was checking his ID, he drove off.

The chase went to Downtown Dallas and then the driver turned around and headed back to Fort Worth.

Police flattened his car's tires with spike strips. Then he got out and ran.

Officers got help from the Fort Worth police department's helicopter to search for him. He was caught trying to run to a friend's apartment not far from where the chase began.

The unnamed suspect faces a long list of charges including felony evading arrest.

Police still aren't sure why he tried to flee.
