One person is dead and at least three others are in the hospital after a crash in the Fair Park area Saturday morning.

The driver lost control and hit a tree and a utility pole around 2:00 a.m. in the 4700 block of Lindsley Avenue. Then, the car stopped in the front yard of a home, police said.

A person thrown from the back seat of the vehicle died at the scene, police said.

People who live nearby rushed to help the other victims inside the car.

“I was just trying to console her, to let her know not to give up. Just to keep talking to us until the ambulance got here. They got here amazingly fast so they was able to get her, get her in the ambulance,” said James Collier, who lives near the crash scene.

There is no word on the conditions of the other three people. Dallas police are investigating the crash.

Fox 4 spoke with the woman who owns the car that caused the crash. She says her 18-year-old son took the car without her permission. It is unclear if he was the one driving at the time of the crash.

The teenage suspect was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and is being charged with Criminally Negligent Homicide.
