North Texans continue to set early voting records
North Texans shattered early voting records for a third-straight day on Wednesday in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Denton counties.
Dallas County said there were 53,819 ballots cast on Wednesday for a total of 166,310 votes in the three days of early voting. That’s well ahead of the previous record pace of 102,879 at the same point in 2008. In three days of early voting, 12.92 percent of registered voters in the county have already cast ballots in-person.
Tarrant County had 42,332 votes on Wednesday, for a total of 130,431 votes in three days. That’s also ahead of the record of 93,530 at the same point in 2012. 12.10 percent of registered Tarrant voters have cast ballots in-person so far in 2016.
Collin County reported 27,928 votes cast on Wednesday, for a total of 89,855 in three days so far. That is nearly double of the previous record pace of 51,267 in 2012. 16.74 percent of registered voters in Collin County have voted in-person so far.
Denton County had 19,759 votes on Wednesday, for a total of 56,042 votes in three days. That’s ahead of the record of 38,672 at the same point in 2012. 12.06 percent of registered Denton County voters have cast ballots in-person so far in 2016.
Early voting in Texas continues through Friday, November 4. Election Day is Tuesday, November 8.
To vote, people have to bring a valid photo with you to the polls. There are seven acceptable forms of ID, including a Texas driver’s license, U.S. Passport or military ID. If you don't have one, then you have to sign a declaration stating and provide some other form of documentation, like a bank statement or a utility bill.
