No arrests made after man follows woman home, fatally stabs her
DALLAS - There's continued fear in a North Dallas neighborhood where police say a man followed a woman home, murdered her, and injured her roommate.
Police say 24-year-old Lin Wang was followed home last Friday night when she was walking her dog. On Monday, police released a sketch of the attacker: a white man around 6 feet tall. It has not resulted in an arrest.
People living near I-635 and Hillcrest Road like to get out. Anderson Bonner Park and White Rock Creek Trail are popular with joggers and bikers and folks out walking their dogs.
Police were called to the Churchill on the Parks apartments just before 8 p.m. Friday. There, they found Wang dead. Her roommate was stabbed, but she survived.
The gruesome reality has prompted increased security at the apartment complex. Its management confirmed it has 24-hour patrols in effect as well as a courtesy officer on the property. Also, the Dallas Police Department has increased patrols inside and surrounding the property.
Those who worshipped with Wang at the Dallas Chinese Fellowship Church in Plano confirmed a Sunday service to memorialize her and to pray for both victims. The church has also begun an effort to raise money for the families of both women.
Wang had just graduated from UT-Dallas with a master’s degree in accounting. UTD’s president released a statement on behalf of the university community saying: “to hear of such a horrible tragedy is difficult for us.”
Several people who walk use the trail adjacent to the apartment complex report often seeing men who look out of place.
“People can hide in the wooded area and come out of the bushes,” said Juan Sosa.
“You’ll see people walking through the bushes just because it’s secluded,” said James Aston.
“When I go anywhere by myself, I always carry mace,” said Callie Hutcherson.
The second woman who was found stabbed in the apartment was taken to a hospital for treatment, but police have not identified her or released any information on her condition.
The apartment complex issued a statement pointing out the heightened security measures as well as to say it continues to cooperate with the Dallas Police Department and its effort to track down Wang’s killer.
