Missing boy in Parker County now presumed dead

A 10-year-old boy who was carried away by the Brazos River Saturday is now believed to have drowned.

Recovery crews in Parker County wrapped up a third day of searching on Monday.

Emergency personnel tell FOX 4 the boy was fishing with friends Saturday afternoon when he was swept away by the fast moving current. They say the boy could not swim and was not wearing a flotation device.

Dispatchers did not receive the 911 call until about 30 minutes later, making recovery efforts much more difficult.

Search teams from Parker and surrounding counties are using boats, sonar and specially trained dogs to search for the body.

The boy's name has not yet been released.
