Miracle in the Mud
An elderly couple miraculously escaped death after their vehicle plunged off a bridge, landing upside-down.
If it wasn't for the mud created by this week's rain, their son says things could have been much worse.
It happened on highway 175 between Crandall and Seagoville, near the east fork of the Trinity River.
Kenneth and Janice Lively were on their way to mesquite for treatment from a different car accident in January but ended up in the Baylor emergency room with several broken bones.
A woman was cited by Crandall Police for texting and driving..
Police say her suv clipped the Lively’s pick-up truck, sending it over the wall of an overpass.
The truck dropped 25 feet and landed on the wet banks of the Trinity River.
The soft mud crushed the top of the truck but officials say if it had not been wet, the Livelys may not have survived.
