Man takes stolen ambulance on joyride to adult book stores

A man accused of stealing an ambulance overnight is behind bars after a long joyride.

The ambulance was taken around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday from UT Southwestern Hospital in Dallas.

Police tracked it to two adult book stores and then tried to pull it over at a convenience store around 2:30 a.m.

When officers got to the store on Webb Chapel Road and the LBJ Freeway in Farmers Branch, the driver took off across a field and crashed into a tree.

He got out and ran into a creek, where he was arrested.

The unnamed suspect likely faces charges for the unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
