Man shot, killed while driving on I-20 in Fort Worth

A man who was driving through southwest Fort Worth was shot and killed overnight.

Fort Worth police said the man crashed his pickup truck near Interstate 20 and Campus Drive around 1 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers who arrived to help noticed that the 32-year-old had been shot. His truck was riddled with bullet holes and the right passenger window was blown out.

"They located a victim inside who appeared to have gunshot wounds. Possibly stab wounds. That's still being investigated,” said Fort Worth Police Officer Brad Perez. “We're not stating this is a road rage incident because it’s too early to tell."

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity has not yet been released.

The man's father says his son went to play at an open mic event at a VFW Hall in South Arlington. Investigators say they determined nothing unusual happened there. They believe whatever went wrong happened after he left Arlington on his way to his home in Fort Worth.

Police say they found no witnesses when they arrived at the scene. They need to hear from anyone who saw what happened.

Police closed part of the highway for several hours to investigate. So far no one has been arrested.
