DALLAS - One person was pronounced dead Saturday morning following a fire in the garage of a Dallas home.
Dallas Fire-Rescue crews were called out just after 8:15 a.m. for reports of a fire at a home in the 8400 block of Hunnicut Rd. in east Dallas.
Firefighters arrived to find an already extinguished fire in the home’s garage.
Inside the garage, they found an unresponsive man with significant burn injuries.
The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Investigators found that a man had gone to the home to do some work Saturday morning, when he saw smoke coming from the garage.
After he called 911, he went into the garage and found a couch that was on fire.
He was able to put of the flames, but then found the victim with burn wounds.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and will not be determined until the medical examiner is able to determine the victim’s cause of death.
