Man drowns in Weatherford Lake

Weatherford Police are investigating the drowning of an adult male.

Friday afternoon, around 2:00 p.m., the Weatherford Police Department was contacted in reference to an unresponsive male found in Weatherford Lake.  

The body was found floating in the water by boaters around the east side of the lake, approximately 100 yards off shore. 

Weatherford Fire Department personnel responded and helped secure the body.  Police investigators and crime scene personnel arrived on scene to initiate an investigation into the death.  

Investigators were told by individuals that the victim, identified as 59-year-old Michael Wilson, had been seen walking around the Weatherford park, located on the south end of the lake, earlier in the day.  

Based on the preliminary investigation, investigators reported there were no visible injuries consistent with foul play.  The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office says his cause of death is drowning.
