Man arrested for opening fire on construction workers

ALLEN, Texas - A SWAT standoff in Allen early Wednesday morning ended with one man in custody.

Police said 75-year-old Roy Dale Rogers used a rifle to fire shots at a construction crew that was working across the street from his apartment in the 300 block of Greenville Avenue.

Rogers was angry that the workers were being so loud at 2 a.m., police said.

Greenville Avenue was shut down between Jupiter Road and St. Mary Drive while patrol officers and then SWAT officers tried to make contact with him. He eventually surrendered.

Rogers is now charged with deadly conduct by discharging a firearm.

No one was hurt.
