Magnitude 3.1 earthquake shakes Irving

Many people living in and near the old Texas Stadium site felt a fairly strong earthquake Friday morning.

The United States Geological Society confirmed there was a magnitude 3.1 earthquake at 6:41 a.m. The Irving Fire Department said the epicenter was in the vicinity of Highway 114 and Wildwood Drive.

FOX 4 got calls, emails, and messages from dozens of people who said they felt the quake.

“I am in Las Colinas. I almost fell off my bed!!! 😳 It was super strong,” Vennesa Ramos wrote on the FOX 4 Facebook page.

“I'm at work on 114 & O'Conner in a tall building. The whole building shook,” Jennifer Caster added.

Some residents in Dallas, Farmers Branch and Carrollton also reported feeling the earthquake.
