Lyft robotaxis coming to Dallas?

What we know:

Lyft says they have joined forces with Marubeni, a Japenese company with experience managing fleets, to make it happen.

Marubeni-owned fleet vehicles equipped with Mobileye Drive technology will be available on the Lyft app.

Lyft says the vehicles will be available in Dallas as soon as 2026, and in other cities in the coming months.

The company says the collaboration shows how partners can easily deploy automated vehicles on Lyft's platform.

The announcement comes the day before Lyft announces its quarterly earnings.

Uber is getting ready to launch autonomous vehicles of their own in Texas.

What we don't know:

At this time, the exact launch date of the automated vehicles in Dallas has not been announced.

Lyft says they will have more to share in the coming months.

What they're saying:

"The more AVs out there, the more the rideshare market expands. It’s all part of our promise to serve and connect, and we’re excited to have Marubeni along for the ride," wrote Lyft CEO David Risher on social media.
