Hometown Heroes: Ron and Troy Graham
A Mesquite father and son have 65 combined years of work at the State Fair of Texas.
Ron Graham first went to the fair when he was 8. He's worked there for 28 years. His son Troy was 7 when he first went to the fair and has worked there for 37 years.
Ron retired in 2001, but Troy takes time off from his job at TxDot.
The father-son team drives a flatbed golf cart all over the grounds, delivering ice and visitors guides to the information booths and the wire racks in the buildings at Fair Park. They're also ambassadors and answer visitors’ questions as they make their deliveries.
Ron is a great-grandfather and has special advice for kids at the fair. For him, the experience is about family, food and fun.
Ron tells kiddos to stay close to mom and dad because they have the coupons for corny dogs, soda and rides. And if they get lost, that will spoil their time at the fair.
Ron tells kids to make sure to stay close to mom and dad during the fair.
