Hometown Hero: Josiah Arita

July 31 is Josiah Arita's birthday and he's turning 9-years-old. Josiah loves animals and wants to be a veterinarian when he grows up.

His parents recently took him to El Salvador for vacation and he was sad to see homeless cats and dogs. When he got home, he decided he wanted to help homeless animals in Denton. He's using his birthday to do that.

Instead of presents, he's asking family and friends to donate money for the Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center in Denton which is operated by the city. So far, Josiah has raised $550.

Paul O'Neill,  the Animal Services Supervisor told me the money will be used for the shelter's medical fund for injured animals needing surgery. O'Neill says this generous donation will go a long way.
