Hometown Hero: Brenda Stringer-Bishop

In 2004 Brenda Stringer-Bishop was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had treatment but in 2010 cancer metastasized to her spine.  She's Stage IV, takes two chemo pills a day and says she's feels fine and thankful. Brenda told me it makes her feel good to help others.

For the last four years, she's done that by making tiny beautiful pink ribbons.  Each one is different and creatively blinged-out. Brenda doesn't sell them, she accepts donations and she told me she gets anywhere from one to twenty dollars.

She donates all of the money to Komen Dallas County to help women and men in the cancer fight. Brenda works at the Haynes Boone law firm and her colleagues support her and everyone in the fight, buying and wearing her ribbons.

Last year Brenda gave almost $4,500 to Komen Dallas County. She hopes to donate more money this year.
