Historic camp flooded one week before campers arrive

Heavy rains flooded a beloved summer camp in Granbury, one week before campers were set to arrive.

Campers of all ages have been coming to Camp Crucis every year, since 1947. Camp directors tell Fox 4 floodwaters reached a depth of several feet in more than a dozen cabins.

The water damaged mattresses and camp supplies stored inside. Saturday, more than 100 volunteers, churches and businesses stepped up to make sure the place was ready for the start of summer.

Camp directors say they don’t have an estimate on how much repairs will cost, but they’ve already started drying out cabins and ripping out damaged dry wall.

Businesses like Home Depot, Walmart and H.E.B. and Zachry Construction have donated goods and services. Volunteers have also started a Gofundme drive to help with expenses. You can find a link HERE if you’d like to donate.
