Gas leak prompts evacuations in Bedford

BEDFORD, Texas - Atmos Energy is investigating a large gas line break in Bedford.

The gas company received a call from a resident who smelled gas at a complex near Pipeline Road and Forest Ridge Drive Wednesday night.

Workers located the source of the odor. It was a ruptured 16-inch natural gas pipeline in the alley.

The Bedford Fire Department helped evacuate 10 families around midnight.

The families spent the night in a hotel.
