Friends and family mourn murdered Fort Worth teen

Police are investigating the murder of a seventeen-year-old, shot to death in his own driveway, early Sunday morning.

Friends of Demarion Jones gathered outside his Fort Worth home on Stone Wall Ln., Sunday afternoon after they heard the news.

“He was a brother to me,” said Robert Thornton. “Just yesterday we were talking about changing our lives. Doing good things. He was just about to go to school. Get an education.”

Police say a man walking by fatally shot Jones in the driveway just after 2 A.M. Friends and neighbors were shocked by the news of Jones’ death.

“I had just talked to him yesterday about one or two o'clock that afternoon,” said neighbor, Marcus Johnson. “He was a good kid, just running around with his friends, just hanging out, doing what normal teenagers do.”

Friends tell Fox 4 the teen mowed lawns in the neighborhood and had just enrolled in school.

"I want him to be remembered as a good man, somebody who's not scared or afraid to do anything,” said Thornton.

Police have interviewed the friend who was standing with Jones when he was shot. They have not released a description of the shooter.
