Fort Worth police shot and killed a man after they say he pointed a weapon at them.

Officers were responding to a domestic disturbance call Sunday night around 8:30 p.m. at a home on Blueridge Drive in the Eastern Hills neighborhood.

They went into the house and police said the 46-year-old man aimed a gun at them. One officer fired, fatally wounding the man.

"While inside the residence the officer encountered the individual who produced a weapon at the officer. The officer fearing for his life shot the individual, striking the individual in the upper extremities," said Officer Jimmy Pollozani with the Fort Worth Police Department.

The man was taken to the hospital, where he later died. No one else in the home was hurt.

Both officers involved in the incident are on leave while the shooting is investigated.
