Fire damaged eight apartments in south Fort Worth overnight, including one that belonged to a firefighter.

Fort Worth officials said the fire began on the first floor at the apartment complex on Lincoln Oaks Drive, near Hulen Street and Overton Ridge Boulevard, around 2 a.m. Wednesday.

The flames went up into the attic but firefighters were able to quickly knock them down. No one was hurt.

A firefighter lived in one of the units that suffered some minor smoke damage. He was not home and wasn’t on duty at the time, officials said.

The American Red Cross is helping those displaced by the fire.
